The Runaway Pancake

Have you ever seen this book? It's a Whitman Tell-A-Tale book with pictures by Ben Williams. I found it over the weekend, and I thought the illustrations were too cute to pass up. And, since pancakes had their day this week, it seemed fitting to feature this little guy.
Can you imagine cooking in this sweet little kitchen, with its painted cupboards and scalloped curtains...not to mention the cute flowery dishes...

Or living in a blue house with a pink roof on this yummy candy-colored street? Of course, making food that comes to life and decides to run away might be a downside... Hmmm.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Oh, I so remember this book fondly. Did you ever read "The Gingerbread Man"? It was a similar story but the main character was quite naughty and suffered a grim ending. Yum, now I want pancakes for lunch! Thanks!

One of my biggest favorites EVER!!! Oh goodness Ellie, I'd forgotten all about it, but so used to love it. It lived in the little cabinet in the hallway at Grandma's house. I'll have to ask her where it is now...

I still have my copy of this book - and read it to my son now. The pictures and the colors are wonderful, I agree. It’s definitely a fave around here. As is The Gingerbread Man, which has a very similar plot. Ahh yes, we LOVE food around here - and books.
The two together? It doesn't get much better.

My Sister checked that out, over and over again, when she was a kid. I think it was her favorite book. I'm glad I saw this because I had forgotten about her obsession. I should try to get a copy for my Sisters little girl.
