Picnic by Ellie's Summer-Long Yard Sale!

Yardsaleoutline350 copy

Hi there, everyone! First, I must apologize for taking this long to post. Honestly, I don't know where May went! But then, May always goes by quickly. Anyway, I have been busy getting new ideas and designs ready for the shop...and I'm really excited about them! In the meantime (and to preserve my sanity while simultaneously making room for new items), I've decided to hold a summer-long yard sale on eBay! All told, we're talking tons of vintage items, all at low starting bids, and I'll be updating with more vintage items each week (usually on alternating Wednesdays and Sundays...at least that's what I'm thinking now). I've started out with a couple of items over here but will be adding many more throughout the summer! Stop by and have a look, if you'd like!

As I said, I will be adding new eBay listings all summer, so check back often by clicking the Yard Sale button on the sidebar. I hope all is well! Happy Summer, everyone!

XOXO,

Ellie

*Thanks for your continued interest in the yard sale! Check back on Sunday, July 5 for the newest listings! You just might find some of your favorite items there!*

Blossoms + Snow

This picture would be so much better with a huge piece of chocolate cake on one of those plates...

Anyway, I found these dishes a few weeks ago at the thrift shop. They're marked "Taylorstone" on the underside, made by Taylor Smith & Taylor. The shop had a whole set of these dishes, but most of them fit too well into the chipped and cracked category. So I was thrilled to walk away with these two sets of cups and underplates in lovely condition (and lucky I could buy them individually!) I love the versatility of this vintage pattern; it feels current, fresh and seasonless. Great with cookies and cocoa on a snow day or covered in coconut cupcakes at an Easter brunch. Even the graphics have a sort of "flower or snowflake?" feel to them. And since yesterday we had snow showers side-by-side with daffodils and trees trying to blossom, there seems no reason to choose. You have to love April!

Collecting: Kokeshi Dolls

Kokeshitemp350use

Could you resist these faces? I've been admiring kokeshi dolls for some time now (though I've never owned one). Their sweet expressions and delicate detail combined with their storied past make them irresistible, I think. While we were away, we stopped in a shop that had a great collection of these vintage dolls, and it was hard not to leave with the whole shabang. In fact, I was originally going to buy one...and we see how well that turned out. I'm usually not a doll fan, but these girls are different. They're sweet, but not precious. They're cute, but not cutesy. They just work. Anyway, I've just added one of these little girls to the shop, along with a chalet music/jewelry box and an Enid Collins box bag (apparently to celebrate all things wooden!) Stop by, if you'd like! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Home Again

...and getting back into the swing of things with new ideas and new perspective. Sometimes a little time away is all you need, I guess. I hope all is well with each and every one of you. As always, thank you so much for stopping by my little blog. I'll check back in very soon!

Off We Go

I've been bursting to show you this sweet vintage whale trivet that I just added to the shop. Look at how happy those little whales are! You can't see it in the picture, but the lower left corner is marked "DEC 1977." And 1977 just happens to be the same year Save the Whales was founded. Pretty cool, right?

Have a wonderful week, everyone! I'll check in when we return!

XO,
Ellie

Springing Forward

I was so excited to find this vintage record album for a song at Goodwill over the weekend. There may have been squealing. I remember seeing this album at Jane's Apron a while back (she has adorable ideas for vintage albums), and I fell in love with the graphics. Album covers make such great wall art, don't you think? They're bold, graphic and budget-friendly, plus you can frame them and change them depending on the season (or your mood)! Our Goodwill store tends to have lots of albums at very affordable prices. Urban Outfitters offers these sweet album frames, and I've seen album frames at Michael's and Target as well. A great project for a rainy day, I think.

Oh, and this picture comes just in time for Daylight Saving Time! Don't forget to set your clocks this weekend. Spring might be on its way after all!
